Coaching for Distraction Solutions

Distraction has serious impacts on our relationships, work and self.

Awareness, and handling of distraction are crucial to managing those impacts.

Solving distraction means learning how to manage distractions. Each of us has an individual personality, with our own distractions, and our own ways of dealing with them.

George struggled with his own distractions, and learned how to deal with them.

He loves helping others by coaching them in awareness about their own distractions, and in how to manage them, using a standard program.

The essence of the program is learning how to move away from automatic, habitual reaction to distraction, cultivating awareness of distraction and intentional, methodical action in advance or in response, and agency for oneself.

The standard distraction program has three key areas:

  1. Distraction awareness.
  2. Tools to handle distraction.
  3. Tools to avoid distraction.

The program takes three weeks:

  1. Week 1 is devoted to developing awareness.
  2. Week 2 includes learning tools.
  3. Week 3 includes review and consolidation.

Before acceptance by you and by George for the coaching program, there is an interview.

The Book

“Distracted George”, a graphic novel in comic book format, describes the author’s journey from distraction to attention and action. This book is for readers of all ages. It contains no profanity.

This is a humorous recounting of George’s struggle with distraction. He tells what distraction is for him, delivers a tongue-in-cheek “history of distraction”, and shows what his external distractions (screens, food, sex…) are, and his internal distractions (anger, fear, procrastination…).

He then shows tools and techniques to more clearly, and easily, realize when he’s distracted, and to achieve attention to his main priorities.

The book ends with a description of “good” distractions.

If you struggle with distractions, what George learned in his journey may be useful for you.

George now manages his distractions successfully.
